To decide what age group your team needs to be you can go to USSSA click here for age calculator. The age you team must register is the age of your oldest player. To determine what classification your team is look at the current Bylaws and Rules to give you an idea of what you need to be.
After you have registered your team with USSSA, you just gather kids within the age group you want to participate. Roster maximum limit is twenty (25) and there is not a minimum limit. However, you must just have enough to play according to the rules and may want to leave space available for adds.
You need to complete your roster ONLINE, click Get Your Roster Online on the left menu bar. (When your team qualifies, the State Headquarters will freeze your roster. At the time your roster is frozen you will have Add/Drop guidelines.
TEAM CLASSIFICATION HELP The descriptions below are guidelines. The ultimate decision on classification is the overall strength and performance of the team on the field measured by a team's Power Rating. As per USSSA Rule 3.04, a team may be reclassified by USSSA at any time.
MAJOR: The top 10%-20% of the teams in the state!
AAA: The middle 40% - 60% of the teams in the state.
AA: The lower 20% of the teams in the state.
A: Local drafted league teams, most of these are Recreation teams.
ALL-STAR: Teams are formed from the local drafted leagues and will not be limited to one age group.
For the purpose of classifications, if four (4) or more players from a PREVIOUS season's roster are on a NEW roster, they are considered the same team regardless of the team name, manager, coaching staff or sponsor.
HOW TO QUALIFY State Tournaments: All North Carolina tournaments qualify top two teams in each age and class for the State championship. If the winner or runner-up has already qualified then the berth will be passed down. Teams with a losing record are not eligible for the passed-down berth. All teams can play in the state tournament as long as they play in a minimum of 3 USSSA tournaments.
World Series: North Carolina Teams can qualify only through an NIT or our State Tournaments. The top two teams in each age and class qualify for the World Series. If the winner or runner-up has already qualified then the berth will be passed down. Teams with a losing record are not eligible for the passed-down berth.
Elite World Series: Teams can qualify only through a Super NIT Tournament. The top two teams in each age 11U, 12U, 13U and 14U Major Teams qualify form this tournament for the Elite World Series. The National office determines whether or not berths are passed down.
Tournament Formats Defined
Our events will consist of two different formats. We will offer Open Format, and a Separate Class Format. When Events are combined to be an Open Format with Multiple Classes of Play we tend to offer a Split Bracket Format where the higher seeded teams go in the Upper Flight and the Lower Seeded teams go in a Lower Flight. Awards are issued in both Flights.
Awards
Our awards consist of several different options such as trophies, game jerseys, shoes, Warm up jackets, Tshirts, Hoodies and more. If the Team would rather have trophies instead of our other gifts we can make arrangements for that as well.
